Frequently Asked Questions

What is Low Level Light (LLLT) Therapy and How does it work?

Low Level Light Therapy is the application of a “cold” pure laser to assist you with smoking cessation, weight loss and muscle and joint pain. The laser is applied to various points throughout your hands, face and head which trigger neurotransmitters to release natural levels of endorphins (the bodies stress hormone). These endorphins have been manipulated by smokers to be released only when they smoke.

Laser Intervention helps to release these hormones in amounts that will get you through the initial physical deprivation stage when feelings of stress and nervousness are at their high.

Two boosters are offered within six months if anxiety and stressful feelings still exist.

After five days large amounts of nicotine will no longer be present in your body and unpleasant physical feelings will cease.

Is laser therapy safe?

Yes, laser therapy is completely safe! Laser therapy is non-invasive and drug-free. It has been widely used internationally for over 30 years. The laser used at our laser centre is a low-level or “soft” laser; it is as harmless as the rays off a light bulb..

What parts of the body are lasered?

The laser is applied to specific energy points through the head, face, hands and ears depending on what the client is being treated for.

Will it hurt?

No, on the contrary you will actually be more relaxed and at ease due to the laser releasing natural endorphins throughout your body.

Will I gain weight?

No, along with the smoking cessation points of application we also will touch upon weight loss points that aid metabolism and suppress appetite. Smokers commonly replace the habit of smoking with another habit such as eating particularly high fat foods that bring gratifying feelings. Our councilors will guide you through healthy alternatives and behaviours to surpass the smoking habit.

Is it covered by OHIP or work benefits?

Currently because the therapy is a new concept to Canada it is not covered by OHIP. Although it is possible that your employer may offer a smoking incentive program or enable you to use your flexi-spending dollars to cover most of the cost. Please check with your company to see which benefits apply to you.
